Our Story

In 2005 Clinton Judd, a student in mechanical engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, decided to build his own tube bending machine. Over the course of his senior year, he designed and built an NC hydraulic tube bender which was able to bend over 180 degrees in a single motion and automatically stop at the desired angle. The bender incorporated a real time digital display of bend angle, a valuable addition to any bender! Clinton shared his project on the internet and found that many people wanted to have similar control over the accuracy of their own bends.

After graduating from Cal Poly with his master's degree in 2006, Clinton set out to develop an easy-to-install system that would reliably and accurately measure bend angle on popular tube benders. The Tube Bandit Digital Readout System was born. Testing began in the middle of 2007 and development continued with the support of a dedicated testing group through the product release in November 2009.
